“I am deeply troubled by the killing of Deborah Danner. Use of deadly force must be a last resort  and once again we have an instance where it was not.  Deborah Danner should have been helped, not killed. This is a story which happens far too often in our city and in our nation- especially to communities of color. This needs to change. We need to be better. Commissioner O’Neill has rightfully acknowledged this was a failure and I urge the NYPD, Attorney General and District Attorney to carry out a transparent and thorough investigation.”
